Are you feeling the New Years Blues?

The hustle and bustle of the holiday season has worn off and reality begins to set in. If you're feeling tired and uninspired, you are not alone. But here's your reminder that we're only half way through January and there is plenty of time to turn things around. We've put together a few steps to help you follow-through with your New Years resolution and keep the motivation alive! 💪 So for our MUAH stylists, brides-to-be, beauty fanatics, and everyone in between, let's get started!

1. CREATE REASONABLE AND MEASURABLE GOALS

We understand the temptation to make this year the year that you conquer the world! But let’s be a little reasonable here… While there is nothing wrong with setting ambitious goals, it is important to be gentle with yourself. Focus on setting reasonable goals that you can reach and perhaps then exceed. Fulfilling these goals will help build your confidence in achieving those bigger goals. Don't forget to ensure your goals are measurable. For example, simply wanting to “be more healthy” is a generalized statement that is less measurable than perhaps identifying foods you want to avoid or a healthy meal plan that you will stick to for a particular number of days.

2. WRITE IT DOWN

Your goals don't exist until you write it down. Mapping out your plans and goals without putting them into words (on paper) is unfortunately a recipe for failure! Writing it down actualizes what you are trying to achieve, creating an increased sense of responsibility to follow through.

3. PUT A REALISTIC ACTION PLAN IN PLACE

A goal cannot be achieved without a well-thought-out action plan. Outline concrete tasks that you can complete on a daily basis that will help get you get closer and closer to achieving your overall goal. Overlooking a complex, long-term goal can be overwhelming; instead set smaller short-term goals that help you work towards the bigger picture.

4. SHARE YOUR GOALS WITH YOUR FRIENDS/FAMILY

Let the people around you know what you are trying to accomplish. This not only ignites motivation within yourself to follow through but also gives others the chance to hold you accountable; just what you may need! Better yet, find a buddy with a similar goal so you can hold each other accountable and share your successes.

5. PROACTIVELY MANAGE OBSTACLES

Obstacles are inevitable; plan ahead! Predict what sort of things are going to get in your way and think about your solution to these obstacles. Foreseeing your obstacles before they occur gives you the power to combat them and stay on track!

6. DAILY REMINDERS

Give yourself daily reminders of what you’re doing and why you’re doing it.  Put your written goal in a spot where it will confront you every day; perhaps a sticky note on your mirror or the background of your phone. Likewise, keep motivational quotes/images around you to remind you of what you are trying to achieve.

 7. WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH, KEEP GOING

Arguably the most important tip we have for you, is to KEEP GOING! Failure is a part of the journey. If you fall off track, forgive yourself and keep going. The only thing that makes you stronger than achieving your goals is failing and having the strength to try again.
